On that note, I have been searching all over the internet about anyone else facing the same issue with an SB ATI southbridge and yes, this specific southbridge definitely has something against Windows XP or vice versa.

Which southbridge-version should they support? In my case the reg-entries made by the inf-files of all tested xp-drivers doesn’t match the new hardware. Edit – It is possible that the floppy drive with the ahci has an incorrect folder structure which is why you may be better off slipstreaming the driver with nLite. Posted June 5, edited.
